Mandiri Bank Posts Net Profit of Rp 3.8 trillion in March 2011

Bank Mandiri booked total loans amounted to Rp 251.8 trillion in March 2011 or grew 24.7% from Rp 201.9 trillion in the same period in 2010. This achievement was obtained by Bank Mandiri, with due regard to the quality of productive corporate assets so as to keep the ratio of nonperforming loans (NPLs) at 0.67% net.
Director of Bank Mandiri, Zulkifli Zaini, said credit growth is to encourage an increase in net profit to Rp 3.8 trillion in March 2011. The figure rose 88.7% when compared to that achieved in March 2010 which was recorded at Rp 2 trililiun.
Not only that, the increase in profit was also bolstered by the success of Bank Mandiri gain from the sale of shares in PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk and rising operating profits up 55.2% from Rp 6.1 trillion to Rp 9.5 trillion, including premium income from AXA Mandiri Financial Services .
Zulkifli said that the loan growth occurred in all business segments, especially in the sector of micro, small and medium enterprises. At the micro segment, an increase in lending of 35% from Rp 4.1 trillion in the first quarter of 2010 to Rp 5.6 trillion in March 2011. In line with loan growth, the number of microcredit clients also increased 110 thousand customers to more than 560 thousand customers. Meanwhile, the credit is channeled to small and medium business segment recorded growth of 27.2% to Rp 28.7 trillion.
''To encourage the real sector, particularly the segment of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), the bank also helped to channel financing of SMEs with a government guarantee scheme to improve the welfare of the people,''said Zulkifli in a release received by Republika.
